We tend to jump out there looking for time gains in technology when we are ignoring the foundational execution of the basics.

An aero time trial kit or the latest carbon running shoes will buy you some time for sure, but they can’t buy you back the consistency you don’t have.

Sloppy mind, sloppy body, that’s the truth.

You can only get that from the basic consistency that holds this whole thing together.

Forget what you think you know and try to understand.

It’s not the shiny stuff that you see at the pointy end of the race, that’s just a veneer that covers the truth.

Those athletes at the front are built on three key elements: consistency, ruthless attention to the basics and intention toward the success of those basics.

The attention to detail in the mundane is what brings all this work to the top of the mountain and makes it look glorious.

It is your ability to stay with the mundane day to day training grind that creates true resilience.

Everything else is sugarcoating.
